Turntable Speed: RPM Meter
Privacy policy
Effective date: 23 October 2026
Turntable Speed: RPM Meter ("the App") measures how fast a record player's platter turns. You lay your phone on the platter and the App reads the phone's motion sensor and compass. Everything happens on your phone. There is no account and nothing is sent to us.
1. Sensors
While you measure, the App reads the gyroscope (motion sensor) and the magnetometer (compass). The readings are used on the phone to work out the speed and are not saved or uploaded. The App does not use your location, microphone, camera or contacts.
2. What is stored on your phone
The App keeps its settings in its own storage on your phone: the speeds you use, display choices, that you have read the safety note, the motion sensor correction it has learned, and whether you own Pro. With Pro it also keeps the names you give your turntables and your saved readings (date, target speed, measured speed and wobble). You can delete readings and turntables in the App. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data removes all of it.
3. Sharing
Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to. If you tap Share, the result card or CSV file goes to the app you pick in Android's share sheet. If you tap Save to gallery, the card is saved to your phone's photos. We do not receive either.
4. Purchases
Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details. Google's privacy policy covers the purchase. The App's internet access is used only to talk to Google Play.
5. No tracking
The App has no account system, sends no analytics and contains no tracking code.
6. Safety
A phone on a spinning platter can slip, scratch the platter or fall off. The App reminds you of this before your first measurement. Use a mat, stay close and keep the tone arm out of the way.
7. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Publisher: Zarkon Apps, zarkon.co.uk.
