Cymatics Art
Privacy policy
Effective date: 23 October 2026
Cymatics Art ("the App") turns sound into sand patterns on a picture of a vibrating plate. This policy explains what the App does with your data. In short: it all stays on your phone.
1. Microphone
Microphone access is optional. When you allow it and use Mic mode, the App listens while the plate screen is open and works out the pitch and loudness of what it hears, on your phone, to move the sand. It stops listening when you leave that screen, pause the plate, switch to Tone, or put the App in the background. Microphone sound is never uploaded or sent anywhere.
So that a clip you save can include its sound, the last 32 seconds of microphone sound are held in the phone's memory while you use Mic mode. They are not written to storage, and they are gone when you leave the plate screen, unless you save a clip with Include sound switched on.
If you do not allow the microphone, Tone mode works without it.
2. Clips and images you save
When you tap Save clip or Save image, the App makes the video or picture on your phone and saves it to your gallery, in an album called Cymatics Art. A clip includes sound if Include sound is on: the tone you played, or what the microphone heard during the clip. While a clip is being made, working files are kept in the App's cache and deleted afterwards. On Android 9 and older, the App asks for storage access only to save to the gallery. You decide whether to share a clip, using your phone's share sheet.
3. Data stored on your phone
The App stores its settings on your phone: whether you have Pro, your last plate, style, colour, mode and tone settings, and a count of clips saved. There is no account, and we run no servers or cloud storage for the App.
4. Purchases
Pro is a one-time purchase through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we never see or store your card details.
5. Analytics
The App sends no analytics, crash reports or usage data to us or to anyone else.
6. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
